April 2nd - World Autism Awareness Day
The puzzle pattern of this ribbon reflects the
mystery and complexity of autism.
The different colors and shapes represents the diversity of people
and families living with this disorder.
The brightness of this ribbon signals hope. Hope through research and increasing awareness in people like you.
In 2007, the Center for Disease Control reported that 1 in every 150 (eight year old children) will be diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. There is hope but no cure. Early diagnosis is essential to an improved outcome. Know the Signs of Autism and don't be afraid to approach your child's pediatrician.
I want to personally thank each Wholesale Supplies Plus customer that has supported our efforts to build an activity center for those affected by autism. In the past 6 months, together, we have raised over $50,000.

I am back from vacation with my husband and kids. It feels good to get back. I have many customer emails....if I feel they have a broad appeal, I will post them in the blog.
The first question came from a customer in Indiana.
Question:
"I buy your PET bottles and love the quality. I was reading on the internet that PET stands for Polyethylene terephthalate. Does this mean they contain phthalates?"
Answer:
With the recent phthalate attention, this is a very good question. The American Chemistry Council does a great job with a full explanation. They state:
PET and Phthalates are not the same: Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a type of plastic used extensively in food packaging applications like beverage bottles, microwavable trays and packaging films. Although “polyethylene terephthalate” (the plastic) and “phthalate” (the additive) may sound alike, they are chemically dissimilar. PET is not considered an orthophthalate, nor does PET require the use of softening additives.
The Journal Enviromental Health Perspectives states:
The term "phthalates," short for "orthophthalates," refers to a class of additives that are used in some plastic products, specifically products made with a particular type of plastic--polyvinyl chloride (PVC or vinyl)--to make the material soft and flexible. Vinyl shower curtains, cable, wire, and flooring are examples of flexible PVC products that can contain phthalates.
Plastic beverage bottles sold in the United States are made from a type of plastic known as polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Although polyethylene terephthalate (the plastic) and phthalate (the additive) may have similar names, the substances are chemically dissimilar. PET is not considered an orthophthalate, nor does PET require the use of phthalates or other softening additives.

I would have never believed...unless I saw it with my own eyes! We had questions on how to make room fresheners with rolls of toilet paper. The girls in customer service went to work...and came up with some great ideas!
The first picture is 1/2 roll of toilet paper (paper cut in half with kitchen knife). Entire roll was rolled in IGI 1260 wax (after wax was melted, colored and scented). From the underside of the roll, it was immediately pushed up to give a two tier cake appearance.
The second picture is a full roll of toilet paper. It has been rolled in IGI 1260 wax (after wax was melted, colored and scented). Remaining wax was drizzled on top to give melting candle effect.
The third picture is a 1/2 roll of toilet paper (paper cut in half with kitchen knife). Entire roll was rolled in IGI 1260 wax (after wax was melted, colored and scented). A second color of wax was drizzled over to give the appearance of cake glaze.
None of these can be wicked and burned. They are highly fragranced and intended to have a strong cold throw aroma. Each used less than 8 oz of wax.

Debbie's 3-D Easter Egg Recipe
Ingredients
2 lb. Crafters Choice White MP Soap
Crafter's Choice Liquid Dyes (your choice)
1 oz Crafter's Choice Fragrance Oil (your choice)
Flexible Silicone Egg Mold
Directions
Melt 1/2 of white soap in a double boiler. Add 1/2 of fragrance oil. Add color. Pour soap into egg mold. Allow to cool. Remove from mold.
Melt remaining soap. Fragrance and color as above. Pour soap into egg mold and allow to cool. Note: Do not pour soap to the top of the mold cavity. Once soap is cool, heat top with a hair dryer until melted. Spritz with rubbing alcohol and lay unmolded egg on top. For extra adhesive power, you can pour a small amount of clear soap between the layers.
Allow to completely cool. Carefully remove from mold.
These eggs look adorable in our new cupcake box molds accented with crinkle paper.

Effective tomorrow 3/10/2008, we are changing our warehouse and office hours to:
Monday to Friday
8:30am to 4:00pm
This change allows us to open a half hour earlier for customers on their way to work. It also allows us to stay open an hour later on Fridays. Our toll free phone line will be open at 8:30am.
A recent audit reveled that we have been the victim of considerable telephone fraud on our toll free line. This fraud caused over 4,000 long distance minutes to be charged to our account each month. It appears to have gone on much of last year and into this year. It has been turned over to the appropriate authorities.
Due to this fraud, we have immediately discontinued our voice mail. Customers will be able to call us toll free during our regular office hours and/or email us using this email form.
